Trivia about Paved Bike Trails that is NOT

Bike routes, marked by street signs, are roads that cyclists may safely share with other
traffic. They’re the cheapest way to connect bike paths, costing about $1,700 a mile,
according to estimates from consulting firm T.Y. Lin. Bike lanes require special
measurements and a major paint job to mark lines and bike-shaped symbols on the road. It
costs about $49,000 a mile to create a bike lane, T.Y. Lin planners say. Building
paved paths cost $390,000 a mile.
